The Sprenger Bemelmans Weymouth (42119 78) is a premium dressage bit designed to deliver refined communication and exceptional comfort for sensitive horses. Expertly crafted in Germany by Sprenger, drawing on over 150 years of quality craftsmanship, this Weymouth features Premium Sensogan alloy construction with durable stainless steel rings for strength and longevity.
The high, smooth, rounded port is angled forward to eliminate tongue pressure while adapting to the sensitive palatal arch. Tapered toward the centre, the mouthpiece fits anatomically between the tongue and palate, ensuring even pressure distribution and a steady, comfortable position in the horse’s mouth. This thoughtful design significantly minimises the impulse for horses to put their tongue over the bit and is particularly well suited to horses with fleshy tongues or those that evade tongue pressure by pulling up or sticking their tongue out.
With longer cheeks, the bit creates higher poll pressure and a slightly delayed leverage effect, enabling particularly sensitive and precise rein aids. At 14mm in diameter, the refined mouthpiece thickness is ideal for horses with average to sensitive mouths, offering gentle yet effective communication while remaining kind to the corners of the mouth.
Best suited for dressage, the Sprenger Bemelmans Weymouth is designed for use in combination with a bradoon on a double bridle.
Sizing Guide: Measure your horse’s mouth from corner to corner and add 0.5–1cm. When fitted correctly, approximately 0.5cm should be visible on each side.
